How it started
The name KAZ comes from our names Kyle And Zach. We are friends that decided to use our exclusive connections to procure the coolest liquor bottles and repurpose them into candles. We may not be old enough to drink, but we know how to spot a really sweet liquor bottle. We tested, created prototypes, and perfected our product. What started in our parent’s kitchen has become more than a hobby for us! We hope you enjoy!

Our Process
-
Everything starts with the bottle! We source our bottles through friends, family, local establishments, and purchase hard to find items to offer a wide variety of choices for customers.
-
We utilize a wet saw to cut bottles. Some are easier than others! While the majority of bottles cut fairly well, we do experience chips and cracks. We throw most of these away while saving barely noticeable chipped bottles for our discounted rack.
-
Sanding is the tedious part of the process. We hand-sand every bottle to provide a smooth edge. Once sanded, we clean the bottle to allow for a secure wick.
-
Our final step before filling, wicking the bottles requires a steady hand. Proper placement of the wick allows for equal heat dispersion.
-
We use only Organic soy wax. We melt the wax across a couple large “boilers”. Once the wax is fully melted to a desired temperature, we add scented oils specifically made for candles. We thoroughly mix the oil to adhere to the wax and allow the wax to cool to our pouring temperature. Then we pour and allow the candle to cure for 24 hours!
-
Candle-making is never perfect. Many times, we have small “air” gaps and uneven tops. At this point, we use a professional heat gun to make our candles look as “close to perfect” as possible. Some bottles have labels that are not suited for the heat gun. In these cases, we will take “gapped” candles and throw them on the sale rack. They still look and burn good!
